We are looking for a web developer to build a website that will serve the Civil Society component of the Joint Action Plan to Eliminate Racial Racial and Ethnic Discrimination and Promote Equality (JAPER). The Joint Action Plan, signed in March 2008, pledges an ever-deepening and ongoing collaboration between the two governments to eliminate racial and ethnic discrimination and promote equality of opportunity in both countries. The main function of the site will be information sharing among organizations and individuals in both countries who are interested and invested in this Joint Action Plan.
The site must:
1. Be available in English and Portuguese - previous experience in creating websites that are dual language sites is a plus
2. Have a Site Wiki
3. Facilitate Forums/Message Boards
4. House video and audio archives
5. Bring in RSS feeds from other sites
If possible, the site will also:
6. Facilitate communications between web-based meetings, maintain continuity between projects, and to welcome new participants
7. Have a meeting room/webinar space that can promote international web conferencing that must be accessible to participants in both the United States and Brazil
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
1. Previous experience/knowledge in creating dual language sites
2. Previous experience/knowledge in creating a site wiki
3. Bilingual: English and Portuguese (not necessary, but ideal)
4. Knowledge of word press or related web management program
Successful completion of this project includes:
1. Initial web design
2. Initial posting of content (which will be provided)
3. Successful implementation of a site wiki with instruction guide
4. Set up the hosting and all necessary steps to have the site running and live
5. Simple web management system - through a service like WordPress - with information on how to update
6. Set-up of related webinar programming
The initial roll out of the website should be complete by March 21st, 2011 with subsequent functionalities online in timely fashion thereafter. The project payment is set at a non-profit rate. We hope, in the future, to continue to add further functionality to the site and would also appreciate if you are willing to work with use moving forward.
