Hello. I created a website called One Page Per Day: www.onepageperday.com
The site gets a great deal of traffic and is free for anyone to use.
I'm looking for a designer to help me take it to the next level. I tried to make it simple, minimalistic, and somewhat modern, and I like the serif font for the text and logo I designed, but I know it can all be made much, much better.
The project is simply a fun endeavor for me and I make no money from the site. However I can pay a designer a few hundred dollars now and then to help me make the site more and more beautiful.
What I was thinking would be nice would be to find a great designer and then figure out a series of things we can do. The designer would help with the design and possibly with the html/css creation (if he/she has this skill set).
I would then pay the designer a few hundred dollars, and create a special page on the site describing the team where the designer would get a blurb and highly flattering description of how he/she helped transform the site, and a link to his/her portfolio, etc.
Over the course of a year this simple project could end up paying you a few thousand dollars. I think the only thing holding the site back from even more widespread adoption is the design, and it's already been written up by Lifehacker and a variety of blogs, and has a membership in the tens of thousands.
So this project has the following nice characteristics: It's a free service that helps people pursue their dream of writing... It's generally a simple design, and it will help get your portfolio exposed to thousands of creative people.
Also, if you have any programming that you need done I can help you with that as some sort of trade. I can also teach you html/css if you don't know it already.
Please let me know if you are interested. I'm curious to see a link to your portfolio, a paragraph describing what you think we can do to make the site look better (even better if you can send an image), and your thoughts on payment, etc. Also, if you could mention whether you know html/css that would be great. It's not necessary that you do, but it'd be a plus.
