I am looking for an experienced web-developer to handle complete web-development projects - sans the design part. We'll have xhtml+css files ready, but if you are good at that as well and think you'd prefer coding PSDs yourself I am open to that option too.
So our workflow will be as follows:
01. You get PSDs/xhtml+css files from my end (and all graphics based support, you need not worry about even minor details like that.. ask for it and you'll get it)
a. If you choose to code PSDs yourself, note that these have to be pixel-perfect.. no imperfections allowed..
b. If you'd like to work with xhtml+css files, I'll have my coder work with you on that..
02. You'll also receive a detailed brief of the project; we brainstorm over what technologies to use and appropriate jquery plugins to harness etc. etc.
03. Your job will be to convert these static templates into a fully functional website with interactive elements wherever necessary. We often choose (mt) servers so you need not worry about server technologies either..
04. Once the website is launched, we do need to test it in various browsers and under different platforms to fine tune and tweak any scripts that need refinement.
We usually work with large firms who want to display their portfolios online. This means that you need to be familiar with the following technologies and plugins.
a. AjaxGrids - To list projects. ie. http://desandro.com/resources/jquery-masonry/ or http://blog.xlune.com/2009/09/vgrid/
b. Font replacement - Typeface, Cufon and SIFR
c. Image Carousels - Nivo Sliders for individual project pages
d. Navigation - good with jquery menus/tabs and other pagination elements
e. Social network integration - like/tweet + disqus/commenting system integration
f. Forms - stylised forms both for searching/sorting portfolios and simple feedback systems
g. Databases - For portfolio management, managing staff profiles etc..
h. SEO - Basic knowledge of SEO specific coding (url standards, meta info reqs.) would be a big bonus..
i. Backend CMS - Clients will need to update and maintain their porfolios. This'll require knowledge of image-uploads/image-cropping/sorting and re-arranging porfolio images to reflect these changes to the frontend.
j. Integrating design into blogs - Skinning WP
JS/CSS minification, tooltips, hide-reveal & modal window customisation know-how is a must..
Quality/Calibre of Web-development expected is going to be similar to the following websites:
