Entrepreneur looking for a Programmer for a few jobs
Required Knowledge
flash, AS3, eventual other technologies
Additional Info
Hello,
I am a designer and artist looking for a good programmer guy who wants to contribute to interactive experiences/games of huge impact and artistry.
I have one big game project I need programmer(s) for. The game will probably use the Flash format, but could also be developed/ported with other languages. It is an experience like nothing I have already seen on the web. It is in a hybrid genre taking inspiration from several genres.
As a basis, a solid knowledge of AS3 is needed. Though, I'm ready to discuss the possibility of developing the piece in other formats, using C++ to create an app, or using Unity or Shockwave or other web technology, also for eventual future ports. The basic idea is to make a flash game, but I'm not excluding other technologies. The game will begin in 2D, but 2.5D or 3D might be complementary.
You must be interested in new ways of using programming and new ways of generating a game product, wich in this case feels a lot like a movie and needs to be directed and edited pretty much like a film would. I'm not talking of a serie cutscenes, no. I'm talking of a fully playable experience that feels like a movie; think of games like Another World, Ico, Knytt. The game will have a unique feel and final effect; prepare to discuss dynamic music programming, advanced interactivity with environments, usage of video, quasi-3D effects, programmed arrays and particles, AI.
This isn't meant to scare you (it's actually just little pieces put together) but to let you know that this project isn't "any game" but something else. We might become famous, or not; that is not my main goal. My goal is to make something the like of wich has never been seen before, as for the artistic and technological beauty of the final product. If you like the idea, you are the guy.
I have a tech culture, though I will express the design in a similar fashion a director composes his shot speaking to the rest of the crew. You are the technician whose technical skills and artistry will provide the engine on wich the story will be communicated. You develop and invent the solutions to achieve the design purpose. You also enrich the aesthetic experience with that form of programming that can be considered art.
The episodic format means we can start with a block and then expand functionality as the episodes are produced. There's no limit - the game might even look completely different as episodes progress. What will link them is the core universe, characters and story, and a core gameplay feel.
Meanwhile, I have other Flash games ready to go. For these, solid AS3, physics, collision and AI are needed. We might collaborate for a project only or more than one. Of course, these are all payed jobs.
Waiting to hear from talented programmers who want to participate in something beautiful.
