Additional Info
The project is a web site aimed at film schools, emerging film makers and those just starting out and wanting some experience.
The site will be dedicated for providing two main services:
1. Connecting between amature or student film makers with Indie and student projects, and
2. Providing tools and resources for managing small productions
It will act like a classifieds site on the one hand, allowing early film practitioners to sign up, create a public profile, search and apply for positions on projects for free, and for a nominal fee they can create a project and list available positions on their film.
On the other hand it would serve as a project management system. This system would help film students and small Indie productions manage a team online (similar to Basecamp) and let them use all sorts of production management utilities (this will be called the Toolbox).
Through the website film makers would be able to leave each other references and be able to find mutual friends of possible collaborators to create a network based on trust and reputation.
Using the Toolbox, any scale of production would be able to communicate and stay organised provided with unique tools for their specific department needs.
It would offer a tool for each step of the production, from recruiting to financing, scheduling, coordinating, marketing and even distribution.
----------
This is a big project, and I would like it to start modest, and slowly build over time.
I'm looking for someone who will be committed to the project through its dry period to see it flourish when time comes, and help it grow continuously.
I would love to hear from you if this sounds like something you want to help create.
