Looking for an opportunity to get your name out there, demonstrate your talent, and put another project in your portfolio? Do you love video games, science fiction, or Collectible Card games? Well you may be interested in the opportunity I'm presenting here.
I am a back-end web developer and I've just completed a prototype for a game I'm designing, Galactic Council. You can find a link to this site here: http://bit.ly/ZXemhn. There's a few things to see - a game interface, a "card-creation" interface found within the member profile page, an "about" page that details some of the project's larger ambitions, I've designed everything you see myself (except for the art, of course.)
I'm gearing up for a Kickstarter campaign coming up in the next 2 weeks or so (just waiting for some red tape to clear.) My task list is overloaded, between promotion, bug-fixing, new content, lore structuring, and a total site visual redesign, I'm having to shuffle my priorities to accomplish as much as I possibly can before the campaign. The problem with the visual redesign is that I am DEFINITELY more of a back-end developer, and the current front-end does not match my expectations on what it should look like. That's where you come in.
I need a "hungry" designer; there is currently no discretionary funds for the project so I can't pay you just yet. If you sign on, I imagine you will for the following reasons:
-Put another item into your portfolio. Hiring managers love seeing examples of your work, especially when you're working with a client. Representing your own ideas/concepts is great, but collaborating with a client to meet their needs is a skill/talent in its own right. Prove to future employers that you have this skill, then:
-Use me as a reference. I am a single-member LLC, Linkforge, a brand new software company focused on badassed internet applications.
-Put your name on every page you design, with a clickable link to your resume / portfolio. You'll get to take advantage of all my promotional work to get your name out there. When the project goes live on Kickstarter, if people like what they see they may tap you for a project they have.
-Just because I can't pay you right now doesn't mean I can't pay you later. If the site reaches its funding goal, I will have need for more freelance work initially, and perhaps something more permanent down the line depending on our working relationship. Check the site out, see if you agree with me that the only thing that's holding it back right now is it's lackluster visual design. If you can help fix that and help make the funding campaign a success, you gain a loyal customer of your future services.
-If you are a gamer and you're interested in the scope of the project, get involved now on the ground floor of something truly revolutionary. Help me make this project a success and start your career in game design - right now.
Interested? Questions? Send me your portfolio. If you don't have one, feel free to send me a CSS file redesign of my site's homepage. If I like what I see, perhaps we can work something out.
