My web site is an online resource directory for dog owners in toronto, in addition to containing a directory of service providers (dog walkers, trainers, pet stores etc), we post articles monthly to the site, have a blog, message board, pod cast and more.
I want to be able to allow site members to interact with my site more - kind of like a system found at http://www.macworld.com.
Currently our site membership is free. This only records member data for the purpose of a mailing list and access to a web based vote contest application (username, password, name, address, phone, email, and a few more fields (we had other developers build for us).
I want to merge my membership database (php, mysql) with a wordpress blog - so that we can use our blog platform like a CMS and post our monthly site articles, new etc all in wordpress. This would allow our site members to post comments on our stories and other posts. I like the wordpress system as it is stable, allows us to allow other people to post to the site, has great spam protection and has a robust system with many modules we can easily add (including the ability to manage our podcast posts easily via podpress).
In addition, i'd also like to have this member database merged with a forum/message board - so our site members can also participate there.
I'd like this all to work so the members only have to sign-in once.
I have wordpress installed and have also installed wpbb (which will merge the wordpress DB with the forum DB.
I need someone who has the knowledge on either how to merge our membership DB dynamically with wordpress - or can assist us in developing a custom application allowing us to post articles in a CMS type system that we can allow our site visitors to comment on - and have a forum also linked.
Please send us a message or email if you can assist us with this project.
