Wireless Generation seeks a Technical Writer who understands educators but isn?t intimidated by the technology we use to meet their needs. The ideal candidate is a dynamic communicator who thrives in a rapidly growing, diverse environment, has 1 to 2 years of professional experience, enjoys tackling multiple projects with aggressive deadlines, and cultivates knowledge instinctively.
This is a full-time salaried position. No telecommuters please.
Responsibilities of Technical Writer :
Writing end-user documentation that engages readers and answers their questions
Working with online learning and help development tools to create materials that enhance the user experience
Formatting and editing InDesign and Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Wiki pages to promote clarity, accuracy and Wireless Generation style
Creating and editing graphics using screen capture utilities and Adobe Photoshop
Managing each document?s lifecycle with efficiency and accuracy, maintaining and updating multiple branches as necessary
Generating multimedia PDFs and packaging documents for uploading to printer or Web
Discussing inconsistencies and questionable grammar with project managers
Demonstrated excellence and a minimum of one year?s experience developing technical and end-user documentation (candidates are expected to provide samples and complete a writing test )
An understanding of the challenges teachers face as new technology is deployed in the classroom
Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite 3 and Microsoft Office, and MediaWiki a must; experience with Adobe Dreamweaver, RoboHelp, Flash, and other software a plus
Meticulous attention to detail, commitment to producing quality products, and the ability to set and meet tight deadlines
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Four-year degree with concentration in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Journalism, Communications, or English
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
