Additional Info
I'm seeking several (up to three) expert writers to assist in rebuilding mytown.com. I have spent many years (since 1996) trying to develop the concept with limited success at times. The biggest problem I face is that I'm one person trying to accomplish an enormous task.
The premise is simple, and has since been attempted at some level by several organizations/companies. The idea is to essentially build a single site that serves every town, neighborhood, social organization, and/or family unit in a drill down structure. Really, an intranet for the entire world.
The site should be viewed as a cross between a newspaper and social networking site.
At the community level, a visitor will be able to peruse user submitted events, announcements, and commentary. Users will be allowed to conduct commerce via classified ads, and in-depth housing and automotive postings.
Local business should have the opportunity to maintain a unique, co-branded marketing catalog/site or a shopping cart to sell locally and across the portal. Differing levels of access would be subject to a multi-tiered payment option.
The site must be commercial in nature, as the success of the site will be dependent upon supporting a massive infrastructure at some point in the future.
The site will potentially provide financial incentives for contributors who will be compensated for providing content.
Additionally, organizing units (for example an individual town) will be available for franchise (licensing agreements). An individual who makes the financial commitment will operate as an Independent Community Manager with opportunities to derive an income from site features. Furthermore, upon approval by the company, a licensing agreement could be conveyed to a new licensee at a markup by the original licensee.
Regional and Country sponsors may operate in the same way.
Compensation for this engagement will be in the form of equity in the company (mytown.com, inc.). Your level of equity will be dependent upon your overall contribution. Every member will be expected to provide input. Additionally, each member of the initial team will be recognized as co-founders. Key members will be selected to serve on the company board to such time that business acumen requires other arrangements.
