With over 4 years’ experience as an established freelance web developer in Spain working for some agencies in Palma de Mallorca (Global Red, GRdAR, Atipika), I made the decision to head for London in 2006, aiming to broaden my horizons and further develop my expertise in the Web Development arena. London has offered me a fantastic opportunity to grow closer to and become more involved with experienced professionals from around the globe.
Within a month, I accepted an offer to work as a front-end web developer with a great organization called Squiz, where my main duties involved transforming Photoshop designs into HTML - CSS mockups, as well as implementing the sites in the open source CMS mySource Matrix.
At Squiz, I was exposed to and involved in large projects that required the use and combination of HTML and CSS and DOM Scripting on a regular basis. Some examples of my work at Squiz are Oxford University faculties sites (Philosophy, School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies, Bodleian Library), Ask Boots (Boots Health Information Portal), and Premier Holidays, a luxury holidays tour operator.
In June 2008, I started a freelance career in London. I still contract work through Squiz and maintain a great working relationship with them. However, working freelance has allowed me to broaden my area of knowledge by expanding the types of projects I work on.
Since beginning my freelance career, I have had the chance to develop several Wordpress systems, work with overseas agencies, and manage an entire project (Namaste Magazine).
