I'm a self-taught pixel mincer living in Portland, OR. I've done more than a heaping helping of websites, most of them static, but I've got a pretty good theoretical knowledge of how database technologies interact with the html. Here are the kinds of roles I can fulfill:
UI Designer: I'm a pretty good UI designer- not in the "stick 3D pipes, hexagons and other shiny bits to the nav bar for no apparent reason" kind of way; more the "would the primary audience this app/website targets be able to get around and do useful work without running into too many roadblocks" way.
Artist: If it's got pixels and doesn't move around too much, I'm sure I can figure out how to translate it into a clean, beautiful, cohesive design. I work well both when I need to create a new design completely from scratch and when I have to incorporate exisitng branding.
Technical Writer: I was actually an English major is college, though I really wonder why sometimes. In any case, I'm a pretty decent writer, especially when it comes to documentation.
I have a consistent record of working well with programmers and am actually pretty technically minded for a designer. (My first computer was a 286 made by pulling apart bits and pieces of other, almost as broken computers. My 5.25" floppy drive's close lever was made from Legos and superglue.)
I'm hard-working, ethical and usually really fast. Hopefully you'll give me a chance to put my money where my mouth is! :$
